Report: Leeds United step up David Stockdale interest

Leeds United are reportedly stepping up their interest in Birmingham City goalkeeper David Stockdale amid a wait to see if Manchester City will release Angus Gunn on loan.

Leeds United have reportedly stepped up their interest in Birmingham City goalkeeper David Stockdale in case Angus Gunn is not available.

Stockdale, who made 39 appearances in all competitions last term, has allegedly been told that he is surplus to requirements at St Andrew's and will be allowed to leave this summer.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds were alerted to the 32-year-old's availability in May and are now probing further amid a wait to see if Manchester City will release Gunn on loan.

Gunn, 22, spent last season on loan at Norwich City, keeping 16 clean sheets in all competitions, and has been training with England ahead of their departure to the World Cup in Russia.

The report states that Leeds are seeking direct competition for Bailey Peacock-Farrell, the Northern Ireland international who finished this term as United's first choice.

Felix Wiedwald and Andy Lonergan are the other goalkeepers on the Whites roster.
