Manchester City to sign Luke Brattan?

Manchester City are reportedly close to completing the signing of former Brisbane Roar midfielder Luke Brattan on a free transfer.

Manchester City are reportedly close to completing the signing of former Brisbane Roar midfielder Luke Brattan on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old - who was born in Hull - made 91 appearances for Brisbane, scoring four goals.

According to Australian newspaper The Courier-Mail, Brattan has flown to Manchester to complete the deal, and will be loaned out by the Premier League leaders.

The newspaper also suggests that Brattan will not be loaned out to Melbourne City - who, like the Citizens, are owned by the City Football Group - as Brattan does not want to play for another A-League side, and the midfielder has described his switch to England as a dream move.

"I'll meet up with my agent (Ritchie Hinton) when I get to England and he'll go over some things with me," Brattan is quoted as saying.

"City is a massive club and this will be a once in a lifetime chance."

Brattan has made eight international appearances for Australia Under-20s.
