A report claims that West Ham United have cooled their interest in goalkeeper Joe Hart as Manchester City want him off their books permanently, rather than on loan.

West Ham United are reportedly no longer prioritising a move for Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart as they are not interested in taking him on a permanent deal.

The Hammers are one of two Premier League sides said to have shown an interest in the England international, who is surplus to requirements at the Etihad Stadium.

City are unwilling to send Hart out on loan for a second season running, however, instead holding out for a bid of £18m for their former first-choice keeper.

According to The Sun, this has led to West Ham turning their focus elsewhere for the time being, as they instead look to bring in a top-quality striker.

A United insider is quoted by the publication as saying: "We were looking at Hart as one of the guys to bring in this summer. But our priorities have changed somewhat and it is not a pressing concern. We want to get a forward in first and foremost.

"A loan option was the first option, but nothing is going to happen now. It doesn't mean we won't go back in at a later date."

Newcastle United are the other team thought to have been pursuing a loan move for Hart.
