Aston Villa are reportedly confident of keeping hold of Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz despite alleged interest from Manchester City.
Luiz spent two years at City after joining from Vasco Da Gama but did not make a single appearance for the club, after they were unable to obtain a work permit.
The Express and Star reports that City are considering activating the £25m buyback clause inserted into the deal which saw Luiz move to Villa Park for £15m last year.
However, Villa have received no indication that City will make a move for the 22-year-old and fully expect Luiz to remain with the club for the coming campaign.
It is also understood that City's buyback clause is valid for two years, though the size of the fee is to increase at the end of each season.
Luiz made 42 appearances in all competitions for Villa during the 2019-20 campaign, scoring three times and providing two assists.
