Barcelona will take on an English club for the 61st time tomorrow night when they face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in the Champions League last 16.
From those meetings, the Spanish outfit have won 24 times, drawn 19 and lost 17, scoring 98 goals in the process.
So, ahead of the opening leg against City, Sports Mole has picked out five of the Catalan side's most memorable victories against teams from England.
1. Barcelona 3-0 Ipswich Town, December 1977
In the round of 16 of the UEFA Cup, it appeared that Barcelona were heading for an early exit when they slumped to a 3-0 defeat during the opening leg at Portman Road. However, in the return meeting at the Camp Nou, Johan Cruyff scored a brace, before Carles Rexach converted a penalty three minutes before the end to send the tie into extra time. Penalties were required to determine which team would reach the quarter-finals. Juan Manuel Asensi, Alfredo Amarillo and Rexach all scored theirs to seal a 3-1 success for the Spanish giants.
2. Barcelona 4-0 Manchester United, November 1994
The English champions held their own against Cruyff's 'Dream Team' a month earlier courtesy of a 2-2 draw, but Sir Alex Ferguson's men were blown at Camp Nou. Hampered by the ruling that limited the number of foreigners who could play in European matches, United were without the likes of goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel and Eric Cantona. As a result, Barca's Hristo Stoitchkov and Romario ran riot, scoring three of their side's four goals between them. The scoring was rounded off two minutes from the end by Albert Ferrer.
3. Barcelona 5-1 Chelsea, April 2000
Two goals from Tore Andre Flo helped Chelsea record a 3-1 win in the first leg at Stamford Bridge, but Barca went 2-0 up in the second leg. However, when the Norwegian struck at Camp Nou to reduce the arrears to 2-1, it seemed as though the Blues were heading for the semi-finals. Dani Garcia scored in the 83rd minute to force extra time, where further goals from Rivaldo and Patrick Kluivert saw Barca overturn the deficit.
4. Liverpool 1-3 Barcelona, November 2001
In April 2001, Liverpool had knocked Barca out of the UEFA Cup at the semi-finals stage, but the visitors gained an element of revenge in the second group phase of the Champions League seven months later. Michael Owen put the home side in front, but that was soon cancelled out by Kluivert. Then, further goals after the restart from former Arsenal winger Marc Overmars and midfielder Fabio Rochemback, who sent a curling effort into the net from 20 yards out, secured all three points. The win saw Barca move to the top of the standings.
5. Manchester United 1-3 Barcelona, May 2011
When these two sides met in the 2009 Champions League final in Rome, many regarded United to be the favourites to retain the trophy that they had lifted in Moscow 12 months earlier. As it was, goals from Samuel Eto'o and Lionel Messi saw Barca come out on top. Two years later, Pep Guardiola's charges were widely expected to win at Wembley. They duly dealt with that pressure of expectancy thanks to goals from Pedro, Messi and David Villa. Wayne Rooney had earlier levelled the score at one goal apiece, but United couldn't cope with Barca's tika-taka style.
