Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen details the importance of the team's home form to their top-four aspirations in the Premier League.

Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen is confident that his team will secure a top-four spot in the Premier League table due to their form at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils recorded a 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the league on Saturday afternoon, with Anthony Martial and Alejandro Garnacho on the scoresheet for Erik ten Hag's side.

The 20-time English champions had entered the clash off the back of successive away losses to Brighton & Hove Albion and West Ham United, but they returned to winning ways at home to move onto 66 points, level with third-placed Newcastle United and four clear of fifth-placed Liverpool.

Two of Man United's last three league games of the season are at home, hosting Chelsea and Fulham after travelling to Bournemouth next weekend.

Ten Hag's side are unbeaten at Old Trafford in the league since the opening weekend of the campaign, and Eriksen has detailed the importance of the home form when it comes to finishing in a Champions League position in the table.

"It's definitely something that we need to do, first of all, finish the season strong with a perfect home record. But in the end, of course, for next season, we need to be as good as at home, but also away. And then it's going to be a fun season," Eriksen told MUTV.

"We know where we can pick up extra points, because at home, at the moment we're feeling very, very secure. Of course, when you lose two games, the extra pressure is on.

"But we've shown the character and the quality to be where we are. We're just going to focus on us. For us, it has to be three wins in the last three games."

Man United were missing their leading goalscorer on Saturday, with Marcus Rashford unavailable through injury, but Martial and Garnacho stepped up in his absence.

"Everyone else is trying to dig in and help out and I think everyone on the pitch has had one or two shots today. And first of all, they had some very good saves from the Wolverhampton keeper," Eriksen added.

"And for the rest, I think we have enough chances to score. It doesn't really matter who scores, but it's lovely to attack and score.

"It's very good. And you can see the quality. He [Garnacho] will bring back the confidence of how he's playing. And I'm pleased for him to be out for a while. And then come back and score. It's the perfect return."

Man United have picked up 42 points at home this season, which is the same as second-placed Arsenal have managed at the Emirates Stadium.

However, the Red Devils have lost eight times on their travels during the 2022-23 campaign, which has prevented them from being involved in a potential title race.
