Ander Herrera wants positive Manchester United performance against PSV Eindhoven

Ander Herrera insists that Manchester United are aiming to make a positive start to their Champions League campaign against PSV Eindhoven tonight.

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has stated that the team will look to make a positive start to their Champions League campaign against PSV Eindhoven.

The Red Devils travel to the Netherlands to face the reigning Eredivisie champions in their opening match in Group B this evening.

Herrera has said that Louis van Gaal's side will be looking to lay down a marker in the competition at the Phillips Stadium.

"We have to play away to PSV Eindhoven, the last Dutch champions, so it is not going to be easy," Herrera told United's official website.

"It's true they have lost their best player – he's with us now, it's Memphis [Depay] – but I think Dutch teams always try to play the ball and attack.

"They're offensive teams so we have to know that they are not going to wait for us. I think they are going to try to attack but we are ready. They can be similar to Brugge [in that respect] but we are Manchester United. We have to have the intention to be first in the group."

United ran out 3-1 winners when the sides last met in the Champions League in 2000.
