Jadon Sancho comments on his Manchester United future after starring for Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday.

Jadon Sancho has commented on his Manchester United future after starring for Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old re-joined Dortmund on loan from the Red Devils in January following his public fallout with manager Erik ten Hag earlier this season.

Sancho has since made a positive impact at BVB and has featured regularly under Edin Terzic, chipping in with three goals and two assists in 17 appearances across the Bundesliga and Champions League.

The winger received plenty of plaudits for his most recent performance on Wednesday when he helped Dortmund beat Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 on home soil in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.

Sancho became the first Englishman to complete 12 dribbles in a Champions League semi-final, the most at this stage of the competition since Lionel Messi (16) for Barcelona against Man United in April 2008.

Sancho remains coy over Man United future

Sancho previously spent four years at Dortmund between 2017 and 2021 before completing a £73m transfer to Man United, where he has ultimately struggled to reached the height expected.

The winger is now pleased to be back in Germany, but he is unsure where his long-term future lies ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

Speaking to CBS, as quoted by The Mirror, Sancho said: "Obviously I came [to Dortmund] at 17 and they gave me the opportunity to play professional football, so I'm just delighted with all staff and players that welcome me back."

Sancho was then asked by former Red Devils goalkeeper and CBS pundit Peter Schmeichel whether he would remain with Dortmund, and the Englishman replied: "Who me? I really don't know? I'm just focused on the present right now."

Dortmund's No.10 was also asked about a potential call-up to Gareth Southgate's England squad for Euro 2024, and he said: "I take it game by game and performances like today I hope it carries on."

Does Jadon Sancho have a future at Man United?

Sancho's short-term loan deal at Dortmund is due to expire at the end of the season and the German club did not include an option to buy in their agreement with Man United.

However, it is understood that BVB would be interested in signing Sancho on a permanent basis this summer, with one report claiming that they are willing to pay £35m for the winger.

A return to Man United seems unlikely for Sancho at present, but it has been claimed that the Englishman would be prepared to battle for a first-team place at Old Trafford if there is a change of manager this summer.

Ten Hag is facing an uncertain future as Man United boss following an underwhelming 2023-24 campaign; the Red Devils sit sixth in the Premier League table and will be without Champions League football next season.

New minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe is set to make the final decision over the futures of both Ten Hag and Sancho, the latter will have two more years left to run on his existing contract at Old Trafford as of July 1.
