Premier League Team of the Week - Mohamed Salah, David Silva, Bernardo Silva

Sports Mole selects its Premier League team of the week for gameweek 12, including Mohamed Salah, David Silva and Bernardo Silva.

Remarkably, three teams are still unbeaten after 12 games of the Premier League season, although a four-point gap has now opened up from first to third.

Manchester City continue to lead the way following their derby victory over Manchester United, while Liverpool are still only two points off the pace having beaten Fulham 2-0 earlier on Sunday.

Chelsea dropped points at home to Everton to slip down to third, though, with Tottenham Hotspur just a point behind that after they scraped past Crystal Palace.

Arsenal were one of 10 teams to draw in gameweek 12 as they were held at home by Wolverhampton Wanderers, but there were important victories for Newcastle United and Cardiff City against Bournemouth and Brighton & Hove Albion respectively.

Only six teams kept clean sheets over the weekend, and the most impressive of those was Everton's at Stamford Bridge with Jordan Pickford making a string of important stops - including one particularly impressive one to deny Marcos Alonso.

There is a strong Merseyside presence in the back five this week, with Liverpool duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson both helping themselves to assists and a clean sheet against Fulham. Robertson in particular was a constant threat down the left flank to be named man of the match at Anfield.

The back four is made up by a pair of goalscorers as Juan Foyth put last week's nightmare Premier League debut behind him to get the winner for Spurs against Palace, while Lewis Dunk earns a place in the team despite ending up on the losing side against Cardiff. The defender not only scored, but also won nine aerial duels and very nearly prevented the decisive goal as the 10 men of Brighton withstood Cardiff's barrage until the final minute.

Man City controlled the derby against United for long spells, and once again it was the midfield which was central to that. David Silva opened the scoring to continue his fine form, while Bernardo Silva helped himself to a couple of assists to also earn a place in this team.

Indeed, it could have been an all-City midfield with Fernandinho pushing for a place as the holding player, but that spot instead goes to Leicester's Wilfred Ndidi, who won a whopping 10 aerial duels during his side's goalless draw with Burnley.

The third Liverpool representative in this week's team is Mohamed Salah, who opened the scoring for the Reds with a well-taken goal just seconds after Fulham had a goal controversially ruled out at Anfield. There is another goalscorer on the opposite flank too, with Ivan Cavaleiro scoring at the Emirates in Wolves' 1-1 draw against Arsenal.

There were not many standout performances throughout the league this weekend, though, and perhaps the best of the lot came from Salomon Rondon, who scored twice against Bournemouth to hand Newcastle back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
