Romelu Lukaku's record vs. Tottenham Hotspur

As Manchester United prepare to host Tottenham Hotspur, Sports Mole looks at Romelu Lukaku's record against the Lilywhites.

Manchester United will be aiming to return to winning ways in the Premier League this weekend when they play host to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Red Devils were beaten 3-2 by Brighton & Hove Albion in their last outing and are already playing catch-up on their title rivals.

One positive to come out of the defeat at the Amex Stadium was Romelu Lukaku's quick return to scoring form, marking his first start of the season with a close-range header during the first half.

Ahead of Monday's showdown between United and Spurs, Sports Mole takes a closer look at how Lukaku has performed against the Lilywhites during his time in English football.

Lukaku vs. Spurs

Lukaku failed to make the squad for any of Chelsea's encounters with Spurs during his time at Stamford Bridge, meaning that his first encounter with the North Londoners did not come until the 2012-13 season.

The Belgium international fired a blank in both league games while at West Bromwich Albion, setting the tone for what was to come.

Despite his prolific nature in front of goal at next club Everton, Lukaku managed just one league goal in six outings, coming in a 3-2 loss at White Hart Lane in March 2017.

Four months later the 25-year-old became a Man United player in a £75m deal, but he failed to net in both of last term's top-flight fixtures and was kept out in the FA Cup semi-final, although he did set up a goal in his side's 2-1 victory at Wembley Stadium.
