Manchester United team news: Injury, suspension list vs. AC Milan

Sports Mole rounds up all of Manchester United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Thursday's Europa League last-16 fixture against AC Milan.

Manchester United play host to AC Milan on Thursday night as they look to move a step closer to winning this season's Europa League.

With United effectively left to fight for second spot in the Premier League, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is placing extra focus on adding another European trophy to the club's collection.

Despite having to contend with a number of injury issues, United warmed up for this clash with a 2-0 victory against neighbours Manchester City at the weekend.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of United's injury and suspension news ahead of welcoming the Italian giants to Old Trafford for the first leg of this last-16 tie.

Marcus Rashford

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: March 14 (vs. West Ham United)

Rashford sustained an ankle injury during Sunday's derby showdown, an issue which led to his withdrawal. While Solskjaer has not completely ruled the forward out of contention, it is highly unlikely that he will feature on Thursday.

Edinson Cavani

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: March 11 (vs. Milan)

Despite having returned to action against Crystal Palace last week, Cavani sustained a recurrence to a muscle problem in training. Like with Rashford, Solskjaer may opt against taking any risks on the Uruguayan this week.

Paul Pogba

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: March 11 (vs. Milan)

While Pogba was never in contention for a return against Man City, the Frenchman has now taken part in training after a thigh problem. The midfielder may be considered for a place on the substitutes' bench on Thursday.

David de Gea

Status: Out
Type of injury: Personal
Possible return date: March 14 (vs. West Ham)

De Gea travelled to Spain for the birth of his first child last week, resulting in him missing the fixtures against Palace and Man City. The goalkeeper will not come back into contention until the weekend at the earliest.

Donny van de Beek

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: March 11 (vs. Milan)

Van de Beek has been nursing a minor injury, resulting in the Dutchman not featuring in the squad on Sunday. However, Solskjaer has previously hinted that the playmaker is closing in on a return to action having taken part in training.

Juan Mata

Status: Out
Type of injury: Unspecified
Possible return date: March 14 (vs. West Ham United)

Solskjaer confirmed at the end of February that Mata would be sidelined for at least a couple of weeks. With that in mind, the Spaniard is not expected to return to the squad for the first leg of this tie.

Phil Jones

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Jones continues to recuperate from his long-term knee injury, and while Solskjaer has expressed hope that the defender could play again before the season is over, he may not be ready until the start of the 2021-22 campaign.

MANCHESTER UNITED'S SUSPENSION LIST

Man United have no players suspended for this match.
