Sir Alex Ferguson says that it will take Manchester City 100 years to achieve what Manchester United have achieved.

Sir Alex Ferguson has taken a swipe at newly-crowned champions Manchester City by claiming that it would take a century to get a history as rich as Manchester United.

The Citizens pipped their cross-city rivals to the title on a dramatic final day in the Premier League.

Ferguson said that his players must pick themselves up from the disappointment and challenge again next season.

"[City] can go on as much as they like," said Ferguson. "That's what you would expect. But the history of our club stands us aside.

"We don't need to worry about that. I think we have a rich history, better than anyone and it'll take them a century to get to our level of history."

It was City's first title triumph in 44 years.
