Timothy Fosu-Mensah reveals Daley Blind inspiration during time at Ajax

Manchester United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah reveals his admiration for teammate Daley Blind following their time spent playing together at Dutch side Ajax.

Promising Manchester United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah has revealed that he looked up to teammate Daley Blind as he progressed through the ranks at former club Ajax.

Both defenders developed a name for themselves at the Dutch outfit before each completing a move to Manchester in 2014, with youngster Fosu-Mensah stating that he admired Blind during their playing time in the Netherlands.

"I can remember I was 14, I think, and I asked [for his boots], because always I asked the players for their boots," Fosu-Mensah told United's official website.

"I asked for Daley's boots but his feet were so small and I had really bigger feet than Daley [even] at that time, so there was no need for me to get his boots - but I still took them!

"I can remember watching him play for the second team of Ajax and at the time I was maybe in the Under-14s or Under-15s. I can remember it very well. I've seen him one time, also, in the Under-19s, he played in a match that if they won, they would be the champion."

Jose Mourinho's United side currently sit in sixth place in the Premier League table after 11 games of the new season.
