Ryan Giggs hits out at Ander Herrera's criticism of Manchester United players

Ryan Giggs questions Ander Herrera's decision to publicly criticise his Manchester United teammates for their performance against Huddersfield Town.

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has admitted that he is a "little bit surprised" by Ander Herrera's public criticism of his teammates.

The midfielder accused the Red Devils of lacking passion and aggression during Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Huddersfield Town.

Giggs, who worked as assistant manager to David Moyes and later Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford, thinks that the Spaniard spoke out of turn and had no right to publicly question the players' attitudes.

"I am a little bit surprised at Ander Herrera's comments though because you wouldn't really comment about your teammates, you leave that to the manager," the Welshman told Sky Sports News.

"When you start questioning you teammates' work rates, even if they weren't at it, it can set a dangerous precedent."

The result ended United's unbeaten run, but Jose Mourinho's side remain second in the Premier League table, five points adrift of rivals Manchester City.
