Erling Braut Haaland opens up on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer influence

Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Braut Haaland admits that working with Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the past has aided his development.

Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Braut Haaland has opened up on working with Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer earlier in his career.

Ahead of the January transfer window, Haaland rejected the opportunity to be reunited with Solskjaer at Old Trafford, instead preferring for regular game time with Dortmund.

However, with Solskjaer spending time with Haaland during their respective time at Molde when the striker turned professional, the 19-year-old has acknowledged that he has only benefited from being mentored by the United legend.

Speaking to Eurosport, Haaland said: "Solskjaer and I did some practice on finishing. Not just crosses. I remember he taught me some easy rules.

"The first one was one-touch [finishes]. That I don't use too much power and trying to destroy the goal or the goalie with ball. I think that I was thinking about doing that and it was something new that he told me. I trained a bit on that, but without scoring, but at least I had it in my head after that training session.

"He has taught me a lot to be calm, and also be on your toes and come to those situations where the ball is coming. It is then you have the chance to score. He deserves a lot of credit for teaching me that."

Haaland has netted 12 goals from his first 11 appearances with Dortmund.
