Sir Geoff Hurst has told Sports Mole that Harry Kane should remain with Tottenham Hotspur for the time being.
Following a breakthrough campaign which saw the 22-year-old find the net on 31 occasions in all competitions and mark his senior England debut with a goal, his services have been linked with Manchester United in recent weeks.
However, World Cup winner Hurst has advised the young centre-forward to prove that he was not a one-season wonder in North London, rather than moving to Old Trafford.
"It's important that he performs well for Spurs again. The focus for Kane is to perform as well as he did last year, which is going to be more difficult than when he was unknown. Coaches will have been looking at his strengths and weaknesses and will adjust how they try to deal with him," said Hurst.
"Doing it one season doesn't prove too much. It's difficult when Man United come along and want to buy you. I'm not sure from a football point of view it would benefit him going there.
"There are quite a few changes at Man United, so it might not be a good move to make at this time. I'd like to see Kane stay where he is for another season and score more goals before he considers moving on."
Kane is expected to be in action against the Red Devils on Saturday when Spurs open up their 2015-16 Premier League campaign against Louis van Gaal's men.
