Jose Mourinho praises Juventus for signing Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid and claims that Serie A will now be considered a force once again.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has congratulated Juventus for pulling off "the complete transfer" in signing Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.

The Italian giants pulled off a major coup last week by getting a £100m deal over the line for Ronaldo, who had previously been tipped with a return to Old Trafford.

Despite the five-time Ballon d'Or winner being the wrong side of 30, Mourinho has praised Juventus for persuading the Portuguese forward to join, while also claiming that Serie A is now a real force once again.

"We see three dimensional football. Everyone will look to Italy for Cristiano, to Spain for [Lionel] Messi and England for the Premier League," he told Teleradiostereo.

"The Spanish League no longer has the two best players in the world. Now one's in Spain and the other's in Italy. The Premier League is the most competitive league with the best players.

"At this time, Serie A has become the most important championship in the world. Everything can change in football, the prospects of teams like Inter, Milan and Roma now change, and now Juve is much stronger with Cristiano.

"They are more motivated by the signing, they are contributing to the quality, attention and excitement of Serie A. For this reason, I congratulate to Juventus for this coup, which involves football, marketing and merchandising. It's the complete transfer."

Ronaldo bowed out of the Bernabeu with a record of 450 goals in 438 appearances across a nine-year spell.
