Louis van Gaal expects to be at Manchester United next season

Louis van Gaal says that he will be at Manchester United next season, despite rumours that Jose Mourinho will take over in the summer.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has claimed that he will be at Old Trafford next season, despite rumours that Jose Mourinho is waiting in the wings to take over in the summer.

It has been reported that the club and Mourinho have verbally agreed a deal for the Portuguese coach to become their new manager when the season comes to an end.

Van Gaal, whose contract expires in the summer of 2017, has been criticised heavily this season due to the team's inconsistency on the pitch.

The club failed in their Premier League title and Champions League campaigns, and they are four points off a top-four spot with three games left to play.

Van Gaal, though, is confident that he will fulfil his contract, meaning that he will be at the helm next season.

"We always knew that the process would take three years," the Manchester Evening News quotes Van Gaal as saying. "I wanted to sign only for two years. The club wanted me to sign for three years, not me.

"I signed for three years, so next year you will see me again. Every week for six months I have been sacked, and yet I am still here. But this has happened to me at every club I have been at. I am doing the same job at United that I was hired to do at every club."

Despite disappointing results this season, United still have a chance of winning silverware as they are in the FA Cup final.
