Manchester United are reportedly prepared to wait until next summer to appoint Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager.

The Red Devils are on the lookout for a new head coach following the dismissal of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday, with Pochettino believed to be their number one target.

United intend to appoint an interim manager until the end of the season, with the likes of Laurent Blanc, Steve Bruce and Julen Lopetegui being linked with a short-term role at Old Trafford.

However, the Red Devils are also searching for a long-term appointment, with Zinedine Zidane, Brendan Rodgers and Erik ten Hag believed to be in contention, along with Pochettino, for the vacancy.

According to the Evening Standard, United are prepared to wait until the end of this season to ensure they get the right man to succeed Solskjaer, though the situation could change if Pochettino was to push for an exit from PSG.

The report adds that the Argentine is currently unhappy with aspects of his role at PSG, and has ambitions to manage again in the Premier League.

Pochettino, who has just over 18 months remaining on his contract at the Parc des Princes, won the Coupe de France and Trophee des Champions earlier this season and sees his Parisian side sitting 11 points clear at the top of Ligue 1.
