David Moyes: 'Wayne Rooney getting deserved rewards'

David Moyes says that Wayne Rooney is reaping the rewards of his recent form after twice scoring for Manchester United on Sunday.

David Moyes has no doubts that Wayne Rooney is getting the rewards he deserves following his brace for Manchester United against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

The England international moved above Robbie Fowler to fifth in the all-time Premier League top goalscorer list after twice equalising for the champions in a 2-2 draw at White Hart Lane to move onto 164 goals.

Rooney has scored on 10 occasions this season which Moyes believes is thoroughly warranted for his recent displays.

"He has had a nice weekend," said Moyes. "He is playing well and scoring goals.

"When the moment has come he has taken them. He was very good again today. A goalscorer has always had to score goals. You will see him score a lot of great goals.

"But that was more of a sniff at goal, a mix-up in the box and he was on the end of it. His performances have been great and he worked incredibly hard and he deserves the rewards he has been getting."

United face Everton on Wednesday.
