Paul Parker: 'Nemanja Vidic may have stayed if Sir Alex Ferguson remained boss'

Paul Parker believes that Nemanja Vidic would have stayed at Manchester United if Sir Alex Ferguson were still manager.

Former Manchester United defender Paul Parker has suggested that Nemanja Vidic may not have decided to leave Old Trafford if Sir Alex Ferguson was still manager.

The 32-year-old, who has been linked with a move to Inter Milan, has confirmed that he will call time on his United career at the end of the season.

When asked by talkSPORT if Vidic may have stayed if Ferguson were still there, Parker said: "Yes. It would be [different] but that's football, that's players, you play under certain managers.

"I found it very difficult when I left Manchester United to go play anywhere else. Suddenly you haven't got that person who drove you there, that person you respected and you're willing to do everything to go and play for them."

United, who are now under the leadership of David Moyes, are currently seventh in the Premier League table.
