David Moyes: Nemanja Vidic made "right decision"

David Moyes believes that Nemanja Vidic's decision to leave the club in the summer is sensible for both player and Manchester United.

Manchester United manager David Moyes has insisted that Nemanja Vidic's decision to leave the club at the end of his current contract this summer was correct for both parties.

Moyes said that he spoke to the centre-back and they made the decision mutually, but he does not expect the player to now lose his focus for the rest of the season.

"It was something that we all mutually agreed together, [Nemanja and I]," he told BBC Sport. "I think it was the right decision for club and player.

"I think people know that I have things in my mind that I want to do, what I want to change over time. I cant do it overnight but that wasn't the reason for this. This is a decision which has been mutually decided together. He felt it was the right time for him so we will get on with it and we will move on.

"[Losing his focus will not happen to] somebody like Vida given his concentration, the type of man he is and the leader he is. He has been a great leader for the club, he has served the club brilliantly well and I would expect that to continue right until the end of the season."

United host the Premier League's basement side Fulham on Sunday.
