Sir Alex Ferguson confirms that Wayne Rooney is fit for Manchester United's trip to Tottenham Hotspur this Sunday.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Wayne Rooney will return to action against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

The 26-year-old striker was absent from Man United's 2-1 defeat to Ajax in the Europa League a fortnight ago with a throat infection.

The frontman's illness also prevented him from featuring in England's 3-2 defeat to the Netherlands in an international friendly this week.

Meanwhile, Tottenham's star winger Gareth Bale is a doubt for the Premier League clash as the Welsh international struggles with a hamstring injury.
