Wayne Rooney thinks that the competition for places in Manchester United's attack can only benefit their effort to win back the Premier League title.

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has declared that he has no problem with the fierce competition for places at Old Trafford.

Rooney, who made his first-team return against Newcastle United in midweek, feels that the attacking options at Sir Alex Ferguson's disposal can only be a positive.

He told the club's official website: "There is a lot of competition up front, but that is great for the squad. The manager will rotate when he feels it is necessary.

"There are a lot of games throughout the season. It means we can get a rest here and there to make sure we are ready for the big games towards the end."

Rooney is competing against Robin van Persie, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck for a starting berth against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.
