Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: 'I know where Pep Guardiola is going'

Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge thinks that he knows which club Pep Guardiola is joining when he leaves Bayern Munich in the summer.

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said that he has a good idea as to which club departing head Pep Guardiola will join next.

It was confirmed yesterday morning that Guardiola will step down from his position as Bayern boss at the end of the season, with Carlo Ancelotti stepping in to fill the void.

Speculation has since intensified regarding the Spaniard's next destination, with both Manchester United and Manchester City said to be interested.

However, while Rummenigge believe that he knows where the 44-year-old is going, he refused to name the team in question.

"I think I know where he is going, but I want to leave the announcement to him or his new employer," he told Bild.

"At the Christmas party two weeks ago he came to me, he told me that he was looking for a new challenge and almost apologised. It was clearly difficult for him. I'm not disappointed in him."

There have also been suggestions that Guardiola may decide to take a 12-month sabbatical, just as he did following his departure from Barcelona in 2012.
