Robin van Persie: 'We deserved to win'

Robin van Persie believes that Manchester United deserved their 2-1 win over Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.

Robin van Persie has insisted that Manchester United deserved Sunday's 2-1 win over Liverpool in the Premier League.

The striker opened the scoring for the Red Devils at Old Trafford as they beat their oldest rivals for the second time this season.

"It was only a one-goal difference so it was a bit tricky and they had a couple of chances, but overall I think it was a deserved win," Van Persie told the club's official website.

"It was a great game and a very honest game. The defence was great again and it was a proper football game."

Sunday's win has seen United maintain their seven-point lead over Manchester City at the top of the table.
