Morgan Schneiderlin: 'Teams go defensive against Manchester United'

Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin believes that the team is struggling to score because their opponents are "defending for their lives".

Morgan Schneiderlin has said that Manchester United's opponents are "defending for their lives" when they face Louis van Gaal's side.

The Old Trafford side have averaged just a goal per game in their last five matches in the Premier League, resulting in some pundits describing the team's playing style as boring.

The midfielder told the club's website: "Every team we come up against is putting 10 people behind the ball and defending for their lives.

"Sometimes it's difficult to create and find space but, of course, we should create more chances and do more. I know there is criticism but we let people do their talking.

"Our job is to deliver by winning games. I've seen teams win the Premier League with good, solid defences and not conceding goals. Football is like that sometimes. But, of course, we need to work on our formation to try to score goals and win games."

Man Utd host West Ham United in the Premier League this weekend.
