Manchester United's Tom Cleverley has been ruled out of action for a month after suffering ankle ligament damage against Bolton at the weekend.
The midfielder suffered the injury following a tackle from Kevin Davies during United's 5-0 win over Bolton on Saturday.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was critical of the challenge after the match and feared Cleverley may have broken his foot.
The injury is not as bad as first feared though and the 22-year-old is likely to be out of action for four weeks.
Cleverley has forced his way into the first-team reckoning at Old Trafford this season and had been an ever present in the United midfield.
However, the England Under-21 player will definitely miss the start of United's Champions League campaign and Michael Carrick is expected to replace him.
