Manchester United 'give David Moyes vote of confidence'

Manchester United manager David Moyes is said to have been assured that his job is safe.

Manchester United manager David Moyes has reportedly been given a vote of confidence by the club's board, despite the Red Devils' troubles this season.

The Premier League champions are heading for their worst campaign since 1989 after crashing out of the League Cup to Sunderland on penalties, but vice chairman Ed Woodward is said to have told the Scot that his job is safe.

Despite United failing to make it past round three of the FA Cup and falling off the pace in the title race, the club's board have offered Moyes private assurances that he has their backing, The Mirror reports.

Moyes is on the brink of taking his transfer spending to £64m, with Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata on the verge of joining the club for £37m, and Marouane Fellaini having arrived for £27m last summer.
