Robin van Persie: 'I have many years left in me'

Man United striker Robin van Persie says that he was prematurely written off this season and insists that he can continue to perform at the highest level for years to come.

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has insisted that he can continue to perform at the "highest level" for many more years to come.

Critics suggested that the 31-year-old striker had past his best after a run of three goals in 11 games at the start of the Premier League season.

He has since bagged three in three, and the Dutchman has said that he was written off too soon and has plenty of prolific years left in him.

"The age thing is not an issue for me at all," he told MUTV. "I'm almost convinced now I will play for many years to come at the highest level.

"It is a strange feeling. When you hit 30 and you're having a bad spell everyone says it's because you're 30 or 31 and things might be over for you."

Van Persie has scored 54 goals in 89 games since joining United from old rivals Arsenal in 2012.
