Robin Van Persie urges Arsenal to believe

Robin van Persie calls on Arsenal to show the same belief against Manchester United that the side showed in Champions League qualification.

Arsenal captain Robin van Persie has called on his teammates to show the same belief against Manchester United that the side showed against Udinese in midweek.

The Gunners came from a goal down to beat the Italian outfit 2-0 in the Stadio Friuli thanks to goals from the Dutchman and winger Theo Walcott.

However, the striker has insisted that it will be an even tougher test against Sir Alex Ferguson's side this weekend without the injured Jack Wilshere and Thomas Vermaelen, while Gervinho is suspended.

"What I liked about us against Udinese was our mental strength. Every one of us showed that – really believing. That is a good sign," he said.

"We can be proud. It is up to us to do it against United and the next game. Every single time we play.

"It is tough to be missing players and it is unlucky they are not playing, but we have to show the mental strength again. We have other people to come in. It is up to us to do it again even when it gets tougher than against Udinese."

Van Persie was named Arsenal captain earlier this month, after Cesc Fabregas joined Barcelona.
