Arsene Wenger claims that opposite number Sir Alex Ferguson will never retire.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has said that Manchester United's Sir Alex Ferguson will never retire.

The Frenchman, in his 15th season in charge at the club, still trails Ferguson by ten years in terms of his tenure.

However, the 62-year-old insists that he is more interested in beating the Scot as opposed to outlasting him, ahead of United's trip to the Emirates on Sunday.

"[Ferguson] will manage until he dies and I think he will be 100," joked Wenger.

"My motivation is to beat him. To last the longest is not a record. Of course I will never beat his record. But to win the game on Sunday is my motivation.

"We have to consider that we are in a job where we need our physical strength and health. That weakens, I've heard, the older you get."

Wenger arrived in North London in 1996 after stints in France and Japan.
