Antony will be bidding to set a goalscoring record for Manchester United when the Red Devils face Everton in the Premier League.

Brazilian attacker Antony will be looking to set a goalscoring record for Manchester United when the Red Devils face Everton in the Premier League on Sunday night.

The summer arrival from Ajax has netted in his first two league appearances for the 20-time English champions, and no player has registered in their first three outings for the club in the competition.

Antony made his debut for the Red Devils against Arsenal in England's top flight on September 4, finding the back of the net in his side's 3-1 win at Old Trafford.

The South American then scored in Man United's 6-3 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium last weekend, curling one into the far corner when the home side were four goals ahead.

The attacker has also played three times for the Red Devils in the Europa League this term, including 74 minutes of the 3-2 win over Omonia on Thursday night.

Antony will be bidding to keep hold of his starting role on the right side of the attack against Everton despite the competition for spots in the final third of the field.

"We can make speed and creativity together, he will be a threat in the Premier League. We were missing a player on the right wing, [Jadon] Sancho and Rashford can play there but they prefer the left so now we have the missing link who can play well on the right," Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag told Sky Sports News after Antony's debut against Arsenal.

However, former Man United midfielder Paul Scholes criticised the Brazilian for his display against Omonia in the Europa League last time out.

"Antony on the other side as well, he doesn't run in behind. He seems to be a bit of a one-trick pony," Scholes told BT Sport.

"He's always cutting inside and either passing back to the full-back or having a shot. You're thinking he needs to develop a little bit. It's still early days for him, we know that."

Antony scored 24 goals and registered 22 assists in 82 appearances for Ajax before making the move to Old Trafford, with Man United securing a deal after chasing him for much of the summer.

Cristiano Ronaldo started at centre-forward against Omonia on Thursday evening, with Jadon Sancho playing off the left and Antony from the right.

However, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial both scored off the bench in Cyprus, and the duo are pushing to return to the starting side against Everton at Goodison Park.

The 20-time English champions have lost three of their seven Premier League matches this season but have still collected 12 points, which has left them in sixth position in the table.
