Arsenal confident of signing Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney?

Arsenal are reportedly confident of signing Wayne Rooney from Manchester United before the close of the summer transfer window in seven days' time.

Arsenal are reportedly feeling confident that they can prise striker Wayne Rooney away from the clutches of Manchester United.

The unsettled forward has been the target of West London rivals Chelsea following reports that he wants to end his time at Old Trafford.

While the Blues are said to be preparing a third bid for the 27-year-old, it is understood that Arsenal officials have encouragement that they can strike a deal for Rooney before the close of the transfer window on September 2, according to the Daily Star.

United have publicly remained adamant that the England international is not for sale.
