Aston Villa are reportedly at the head of the queue for Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
The 26-year-old still has over two years to run on his existing contract with the Whites but continues to be linked with a move to a European-chasing club.
Phillips is widely expected to leave if Leeds suffer relegation to the Championship, with the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle United all linked with a swoop.
However, The Times claims that Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa are now in pole position to sign Phillips this summer and are prepared to dip into their war chest to secure his signature.
The report adds that Villa are willing to fork out as much as £60m for the England international, while an 'enormous salary' could also be his if he makes the move to the West Midlands.
Phillips has amassed 14 goals and 13 assists from 226 games in a Leeds shirt but has only made 12 Premier League appearances this term due to injury.
