Barcelona are reportedly considering the possibility of signing ex-Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea as a means to deal with the injury to Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
The current Barcelona number one has missed his side's last three games due to a back injury that has plagued him over recent weeks and could be sidelined for a while if the injury requires surgery.
De Gea has been without a club since leaving Manchester United following the club's acquisition of Andre Onana from Inter Milan last summer.
According to a report from Fichajes, Blaugrana are now considering the possibility of signing the 33-year-old De Gea, with Ter Stegen potentially ruled out of action for up to three months.
The report adds that the reigning La Liga champions have Inaki Pena as the only recognised senior goalkeeper for the time being, which is believed to be a major concern for Barca boss Xavi.
However, Barca are not the only side that could be lining up a possible move for De Gea, as Newcastle United are also believed to be interested in the Spanish international, with Nick Pope expected to be on the treatment table for an extended period after dislocating his shoulder in the Magpies' weekend victory over Man United.
De Gea spent 12 years at Old Trafford and made 545 appearances for the club while keeping 190 clean sheets in that time.
The Spaniard won eight major trophies with The Red Devils and was the recipient of the club's Player of the Year award a joint-record four times during his tenure.
