Bayern Munich have reportedly invited Manchester United to make an offer for Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara during this summer's transfer window.
The 29-year-old - out of contract next June - is widely expected to leave the Allianz Arena in the coming weeks, and Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move.
A recent report claimed that United had also opened discussions with the midfielder's representatives to determine whether an agreement could be reached.
According to ESPN, the Red Devils have now been invited by Bayern to enter the bidding as the treble winners want to drive up the Spaniard's price.
Thiago is believed to be valued by Hansi Flick's side at £27m, but Liverpool have allegedly thus far refused to meet the German team's asking price.
The former Barcelona youngster contributed three goals and two assists in 40 outings at club level last term.
