David de Gea to reject new Manchester United deal?

David de Gea reportedly plans to snub Manchester United's fresh contract offer of £350,000 a week ahead of leaving the club for free next summer.

David de Gea has reportedly told friends that he plans to reject a £350,000-a-week contract tabled by Manchester United and leave the club for free next year.

The Spaniard, who moved to Old Trafford in 2011, has cemented himself as one of the club's most valuable assets since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.

De Gea has been locked in negotiations with United over a new deal for more than a year and will become a free agent next summer should he fail to agree fresh terms.

According to The Sun, the keeper plans to run his contract down and begin talks with other clubs in January.

The current offer of £350,000 a week would make De Gea the world's highest-paid goalkeeper, but this might not be enough.

The 28-year-old, who famously came within moments of joining Real Madrid in 2015, is said to harbour doubts over United's capacity to compete for major honours over the next few years.
