Inter Milan are reportedly planning to lower the release clause in a new contract which will be offered to Mauro Icardi.

Inter Milan have reportedly decided that they are prepared to lower the release clause in the contract to Mauro Icardi.

The forward has enjoyed a successful period at San Siro, but the Argentine currently finds himself out of the first-team squad and has been stripped of the captaincy.

A number of clubs are said to hold an interest in the 26-year-old - including Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid - but there is little desire to meet the player's current release clause of €110m (£95.45m).

According to La Repubblica, Inter are happy to lower it to €80m (£69.42m) if Icardi will pen fresh terms in the coming months.

Icardi's current deal does not expire until 2021, but it appears that Inter are making an effort to find a resolution to suit all parties ahead of the summer window.
