Manchester United are ahead of Liverpool and Arsenal in the race for Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz, according to a report.
The Spanish central midfielder has long been linked with a host of top European clubs in recent years, having joined the Italian side from Real Betis for around £27m in July 2018.
Ruiz could finally be set for a move to the Premier League in the summer though, with The Sun reporting that United have jumped to the front of the queue ahead of their divisional rivals, and see the Spain international as an alternative to primary target Declan Rice.
With West Ham United setting a price tag of around £100m on the England midfielder, and with the possibility of Rice opting to remain at the London Stadium, the Red Devils are said to be assessing cheaper options.
Now Napoli's man has emerged as one of those targets due to having just 18 months left on his current deal in Naples, with the 25-year-old declining their offer of an extension so far.
The former Real Betis player has impressed once again in Italy this season, scoring five goals and registering three assists in 18 Serie A appearances to help his side to second in the table.
