Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho 'frustrated by lack of transfer business'

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly frustrated with the club's lack of transfer activity this summer.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly been left frustrated by the club's failure to land his transfer targets quickly.

The Red Devils have brought in just the one recruit - Victor Lindelof from Benfica for a reported £35m figure.

It is believed that Mourinho told United's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward before the end of last season that he needs five new players to launch a serious Premier League title challenge.

According to The Mirror, Mourinho is exasperated by the club's inability to bring in new faces before the team fly out to the United States this Sunday for their pre-season tour, with deals for Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata and Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic being dragged out.

It is also understood that the manager was not hugely impressed by Woodward's decision to fly out to New Zealand to watch the British and Irish Lions face the All Blacks in their first Test.

The report claims that Mourinho wanted the majority of his targets sealed before the club began their pre-season tour, but that now looks unlikely.
