Fenerbahce are allegedly in advanced negotiations with Manchester United over a loan deal for Brazilian forward Antony.

Fenerbahce are reportedly in advanced negotiations with Manchester United over a loan deal for Antony.

The Brazilian was heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford during the summer transfer window, and Real Betis are said to have had a late offer for the unsettled forward turned down by the Red Devils.

Despite the majority of the transfer windows across the major leagues now being closed, clubs in Turkey are still able to do business, as their summer deadline is not until September 13.

Galatasaray are believed to have been in touch with Man United to discuss the availability of Casemiro, who struggled during the team's Premier League clash with Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

According to Fotomac, another of Turkey's biggest clubs are looking to sign a player from Old Trafford, with Brazilian forward Antony wanted by Jose Mourinho's side on loan.

Fenerbahce 'in advanced talks' over Antony loan deal

The report claims that Mourinho has asked Fenerbahce to make a marquee signing before the end of the transfer window, and Antony is viewed as a genuine target, with Man United thought to be keen to move him on.

However, it is unclear at this stage whether the Istanbul side are willing to pay Antony's salary, which is thought to be in the region of £200,000 a week.

Man United allowed Jadon Sancho to leave on transfer deadline day, with the Englishman moving to Chelsea, but Antony is still down the pecking order when it comes to the starting roles in wide positions.

Amad Diallo, Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford are ahead of Antony, while Bruno Fernandes has also been used in a wide area, and that could occur on a more regular basis this season following the recent arrival of Manuel Ugarte.

Should Man United let Antony leave?

Antony made a high-profile move to Man United from Ajax in the summer of 2022, and the forward had a relatively productive first season at the club, scoring eight goals and registering three assists in 44 appearances.

However, he struggled last term, only managing three goals and two assists in 38 appearances, while the South American has played just one minute of football across four matches this term.

There would be a slight concern about a lack of numbers in the wide areas if Antony left, with Man United having a lot of football to come over the next few weeks due to their involvement in the Europa League.

However, if Fenerbahce are willing to take on Antony's full salary, and a purchase clause is potentially included, then a deal would make a lot of sense for the 20-time English champions.
