Ole Gunnar Solskjaer strongly denies suggestions that Manchester United could attempt to sign Sergio Aguero as a free agent this summer.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has rubbished any chances of Manchester United signing Sergio Aguero this summer.

The 32-year-old will end his 10-year association with United's bitter rivals Manchester City when his contract expires in June, and he is supposedly keen to stay in the Premier League with another top club.

As a result, Chelsea and Man United have both been tipped to swoop for Aguero, but Solskjaer has strongly denied any suggestions that the Red Devils could look to strike a deal for a player who has enjoyed such a glittering stint with their adversaries.

Speaking to reporters ahead of Man United's game with Brighton, Solskjaer said: "When I played for Man United, if a rival club tried to sign me, and I had gone... well where's the loyalty?

"Loyalty is one of the values I really, really put highly. I wouldn't expect any player who has played for a club for 10 years to want to go to their local rivals.

"It's not for me. I know we're professionals, but when you play for Man United you don't go to Man City. We've had examples of that - and I didn't really agree with it. I won't name names but you all know who I mean. Enough said."

With Liverpool not expected to pursue a deal for the soon-to-be free agent either, Chelsea are supposedly in pole position to land Aguero for the 2021-22 campaign.
