Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou is planning to have Harry Kane at the tip of his attack next season.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that he is planning to have Harry Kane at the tip of his attack next season amid the uncertainty surrounding the striker's future.

The England captain's contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is due to expire next June, and he is currently being heavily linked with a move away from the North London club.

Spurs are unlikely to sanction a sale to a Premier League club, which has seen Manchester United cool their interest, while Real Madrid have allegedly decided against a summer move.

Bayern Munich have emerged as the clear favourites for the 29-year-old, who is believed to be open to making the move to Allianz Arena during the summer market.

Kane was involved in Tottenham's pre-season opener against West Ham United on Tuesday, playing the opening half of what proved to be a 3-2 loss for the North London side.

Postecoglou is planning to have the forward at the club next season, with the new head coach hopeful that he will be able to work with Kane for "a lot longer".

"I certainly hope so (if Kane would lead the line next season). It's one of those things where, when you're in this role, I've learned that you've got to deal with the certainties that are before you," he told business leaders from Western Australia.

"If you start thinking about what happens if that happens and that happens, there are too many things that can be floating in the air at any time, where you lose focus on what's the most important thing.

"The most important thing for me right now is to build a team that is going to be successful in the Premier League. If I wait to see what an outcome is before I start that process I'm going to lose valuable time.

"He's with the club at the moment. He's a legend of the football club already. If he retired today they'd still probably build a statue for him.

"He's a fantastic guy, a fantastic professional, but with everything in life there are always uncertainties there. I don't try to predict. You always have contingencies in your head, not just about Harry but about any player, because, knock on wood, someone could get injured on the eve of the season and you've got to be ready as a manager for all possibilities.

"It's one of the attractions of the role I guess, to be able to work with people like Harry and Sonny [Son Heung-min] and the guys who are already premier footballers in their own right but also for the club. Hopefully I get to work with Harry a lot longer."

Kane was again in excellent form for Spurs during the 2022-23 campaign, finding the back of the net on 32 occasions in all competitions, including 30 goals in the Premier League.

Tottenham finished down in eighth position in England's top flight last term, though, meaning that there will be no European football on offer at the club in the coming season.
