Manchester United face competition from Chelsea for the signature of Kevin Strootman after the London club reportedly lodged an offer for the Roma midfielder.
The 24-year-old, who was a key part of Louis van Gaal's Dutch side when the Manchester United manager was in charge of the Netherlands, has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford.
However, Chelsea appear to have jumped ahead of their Premier League rivals by tabling a bid of £30m for Strootman, claims the Daily Star.
Strootman, who joined Roma from PSV Eindhoven in July 2013, missed out on place at the 2014 World Cup through injury, but is now back in action.
