Report: Manchester United make John Stones approach

Manchester United reportedly make contact with representatives for Everton defender John Stones after Chelsea had a second bid for the England international turned down.

Manchester United have reportedly contacted John Stones's representatives after Chelsea had a second bid for the Everton defender turned down.

The Toffess have insisted that the England international is not for sale, despite the Premier League champions reportedly offering £26m for the 21-year-old.

The Guardian claims that Louis van Gaal is interested in Stones after failing to strike a deal with Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos, who is expected to sign a contract extension with the La Liga side.

However, the report adds that United are yet to make a formal offer for the defender, who joined Everton from Barnsley in 2013.
