Manchester United are reportedly beating Chelsea in the race to sign highly-rated Southampton defender Luke Shaw.
The 18-year-old has emerged as one of Europe's brightest prospects this season and, according to Goal.com, United have stolen a march on the Blues for the left-back and are prepared to splash in excess of £25m in order to prise him away from the South Coast.
Shaw has been ever present for the Saints this season, starting 34 Premier League games under manager Mauricio Pochettino, and has been tipped to earn a place in England's 23-man squad for next month's World Cup in Brazil.
Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are among those also reported to be keen on the youngster.
