Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is reportedly only willing to move to Arsenal if a transfer to Chelsea fails to materialise.

Wayne Rooney will reportedly only consider a move to Arsenal if a transfer to Chelsea fails to materialise.

The Manchester United striker has been a target for both London clubs this summer, with the Blues having an offer believed to be around £25m for the England international rejected.

A recent report claimed that Blues boss Jose Mourinho is preparing to increase the offer to £40m after the Portuguese coach declared his interest in the player.

The Gunners have also shown an interest in Rooney, but have yet to make a formal offer for the 27-year-old.

However, Rooney will only consider a switch to the Emirates Stadium if the offer from Chelsea does not come to fruition, according to the Daily Mail.

The former Everton striker is said to be ready to call time on a decorated nine years at Old Trafford after becoming unhappy with his treatment at the club last season.
