Montreal Impact have beaten Philadelphia Union to sneak into the final playoff place in the Eastern Conference.

Andrew Wenger gave the hosts the lead on 44 minutes when he nodded home from Patrice Bernier's floated corner kick.

Both sides were reduced to ten men when Jack McInerney and Nelson Rivas were shown straight red cards for fighting midway through the second half.

Montreal sealed the win 12 minutes from time as Felipe Martins swept in Hassoun Camara's low cross.
