Marek Hamsik rules Napoli out of Scudetto race

Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik rules the Partenopei out of the title race in Serie A this season.

Marek Hamsik has ruled Napoli out of the race to win the Scudetto this season.

Rolando Bianchi struck a 90th-minute equaliser as the Partenopei were held to a 2-2 draw away to Bologna in Serie A this afternoon.

With leaders Juventus securing a 4-2 win over Sampdoria on Saturday, the result leaves Rafael Benitez's men with a 12-point deficit to recover from in the table, which Hamsik feels is an insurmountable task.

He told Sky Sport Italia: "Scudetto? Now the gap is pretty big and I think it's too much.

"We should look at Roma and taking second place, which would allow us to go directly into the Champions League."

Benitez's side face Chievo at Stadio San Paolo in Naples next weekend.
